Youth Ministry Coordinator

Primary function:
The Coordinator of Youth Ministry responds to the spiritual and social needs of Catholic youth. He \ she serves youth who are in
grades 7-12 and develops and coordinates youth activities in the parish. Future goal for the Youth Coordinator: (within the first three years) coordinating a Young Adult group (age 20s-30s) and training parish volunteers for this ministry.
Working relationships:
1. The Coordinator is accountable to the Pastor.
2. The Coordinator has ongoing communication and connection with members of the Pastoral Team.
3. The Coordinator collaborates with parish ministries and organizations that share responsibility for youth.
4. The Coordinator maintains contact with the appropriate diocesan offices (diocesan office of Youth, Young Adult Ministry and the Office of New Evangelization), gains and maintains familiarity with diocesan guidelines and attends diocesan meetings.
5. The Coordinator participates in parish events, coordinates monthly youth Masses and will be present at all youth ministry activities of the parish.
Major Position Responsibilities:
1. Develops Youth Ministry Program which incorporates the following:
a. Regular youth and core team meetings
b. The training of parish volunteers to assist working with the youth.
c. Lock-ins \ Retreats
d. Assist with Confirmation program as needed
e. Heightening the youth connection and experience to the sacramental life of the church.
f. Explore and share the Theology of the Body for Teens with the youth of the parish.
g. Develop a 7th and 8th grade program that will feed the 9-12th grade youth group.
h. Monthly youth Masses
i. Service projects for the community
j. Collaboration with youth ministry adult planning group
k. The Youth Minister must work within the budget established for the program. If the budget is exceeded, the youth minister will plan and execute fundraising to defray any additional costs.
l. As a member of the Pastoral team and Religious Education Board he \ she will attend all meetings and days of prayer.
m. In recruiting members for the youth group, interact with other ministries involving youth (Such as, CYO, Altar Server ministry, Family ministry, Family Liturgy, etc.)
2. Develop a Young Adult Ministry which will include:
a. Participation in events sponsored by diocese \ other organizations
b. Networking with Young Adult ministry of other parishes
c Train volunteers to run this ministry
Qualifications:
1. Youth Ministry Certification and/or Study/Degree in Theology desirable.
2. Minimum of two years experience as youth minister desirable.
3. Able to plan and execute fundraising if necessary.
4. Demonstration of the following competencies:
- Administrative skills
- Event planning and execution
- Ability to delegate
- Interaction with others
- Leadership
