Welcome to the Curé of Ars CYO

Team sports & clinics for boys and girls grades K-12 in soccer, softball, baseball, basketball, track and volleyball. CYO provides a Catholic Youth experience by giving all children the opportunity to learn team sports, sportsmanship, cooperation and make new friends. All are welcome!

Upcoming events (posted 9/27/09)

• Girls basketball will begin in the next week. Our coaches will contact you shortly.
• Mandatory Girls Coaches meeting being scheduled. Ken Enos (our coordinator) will contacts you.
• Sportsmanship Mass scheduled for October 25th at 9:30. All players and coaches should attend in uniform.  Reception to follow in Msgr. Leonard Hall.
•  Girls Volleyball  sign-ups Sunday, October 25th, from 11:00am – 12:30pm and Tuesday, October 27th, from 7:30pm – 8:30pm in Msgr Leonard Hall. All athletes are required to sign up one of these two days in PERSON

Coaching Requirements

CYO welcomes all parents/guardians willing to coach.  Understand that the bottom line of the program is to provide a positive Catholic sports experience for all players.
In addition, coaches must complete the following training courses and background checks:
Virtus Training- this two hour course is required of all volunteers in the Catholic Church. Classes are held in various parishes around the county. Check the bulletin or go to www.virtus.org to sign up. Coaches cannot begin practice without completing this class.
Background Check - All coaches are required to complete background check forms before they can begin coaching.
CYO Coaches Workshop - CYO sponsored workshop on coaching techniques and CYO principals is required. A coach must have completed this class for his/her team to be eligible for post season play. Visit the CYO website at wwww.cyons.org for more information

Other Events

In addition to the above sports seasons, CYO sponsors various events throughout the year to encourage team work and participation from our athletes, as well as the parents who support them.  We are continually seeking participation and assistance with these events and we encourage all parents to actively participate in their child’s positive sporting experience. Please keep an eye out for various times and announcements. Volunteers are always welcome. Some of the events planned for the 2009 – 2010 sports are as follows (dates to follow)

• Annual Sportsmanship Mass      (October 25th)
• Sports Awards Nites (end of each sports season)
• Fifth Grade Boys & Girls Christmas Basketball Tournament (December 26th & 27th)
• CYO Role Model Award Dinner Dance (Parents Nite Out! - March)
